Peer Review Process

How every manuscript is evaluated.

DIMENSIA uses double-blind peer review: reviewers do not know the identity of the authors, and authors do not know the identity of the reviewers. Every research article and review is evaluated by at least two independent reviewers with expertise in the topic before a decision is made.

Stages

1

Initial screening

The managing editor checks scope, template, declarations, anonymization, and similarity (limit 20%).

2

Editor assessment

The handling editor decides whether the manuscript is suitable for review; unsuitable work is desk-rejected with reasons.

3

Peer review

At least two reviewers evaluate the manuscript within [three weeks] using the journal's review form.

4

Decision

The handling editor weighs the reports and recommends a decision; the Editor-in-Chief confirms it.

5

Revision

Authors revise within [two weeks] (minor) or [four weeks] (major), with a point-by-point response.

6

Final check

Revised work is checked by the editor and, for major revisions, by the original reviewers.

About one week after submission, authors know whether the manuscript has been sent for review.

Review Criteria

Reviewers answer the following questions in a structured form and add detailed comments for the authors:

  1. Is the work original, and does it make a clear contribution to management science and industry applications?
  2. Is the research question or problem clearly stated and placed in the context of recent literature?
  3. Are the methods appropriate and described in enough detail to reproduce the study?
  4. Are the results valid and do they support the conclusions?
  5. Is the theoretical contribution clear beyond confirming known relationships in a new location?
  6. Are the measures valid and the analysis reported completely?
  7. Are the limitations and implications discussed honestly?
  8. Are the references relevant, recent, and correctly cited?
  9. Are the title, abstract, figures, tables, and language clear?

Decisions

DecisionMeaning
AcceptThe manuscript can be published as it is or with editorial corrections only.
Minor revisionSmall changes are needed; the editor checks the revision.
Major revisionSubstantial changes are needed; the revision is usually returned to the reviewers.
Reject and resubmitThe work may become suitable after fundamental changes and can be submitted again as a new manuscript.
RejectThe manuscript is not suitable for the journal.

When reviewers disagree, the editor may invite an additional reviewer. Decisions are based on the quality of the arguments in the reports, not on a vote count. Authors receive the reviewers' comments with every decision. A manuscript usually goes through at most two rounds of revision.

Timeline

Average time to first decision[4–6 weeks]
Average time from submission to publication[3–4 months]

Each published article shows the dates of submission, acceptance, and publication.

Reviewer Selection and Conduct

  • Reviewers are chosen by the editor for their expertise and publication record; author-suggested reviewers may be considered but are never the only reviewers.
  • Reviewers must not be from the same institution as any author, have co-authored with an author in the last three years, or have any other conflict of interest (Conflict of Interest).
  • Manuscripts are confidential. Reviewers must not share them or upload them to generative AI tools.
  • Reports are shared with authors without the reviewer's name. Reviewers may not contact authors directly.
  • The journal monitors the quality and timeliness of reviews and does not use reviewers who repeatedly submit superficial reports.

Submissions from Editors and Board Members

Manuscripts authored by an editor, board member, or reviewer of the journal go through the same process. They are handled by another editor, and the authoring editor has no access to the review records. Such articles never exceed 25% of an issue.

Special Issues

Special issues must fall within the scope of the journal. Guest editors are approved by the Editor-in-Chief after their credentials are checked; the Editor-in-Chief remains responsible for all content. Special-issue articles undergo the same peer review as regular articles and are labelled as such. Papers by guest editors are reviewed independently and do not exceed 25% of the special issue.

Authors who disagree with a decision may appeal under the Complaints and Appeals policy.
