Building Strategies for Gen Z to Prevent Cyber Attacks in Using Social Media: A Systematic Literature Review

Generation Z is one of the most active groups on social media, therefore they are very vulnerable to various cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and identity theft (data leaks). This study entitled "Building Strategies for Gen Z to Prevent Cyber Attacks in Using Social Media: A Systematic Literature Review" aims to identify the level of awareness of cybercrime among Generation Z, analyze the factors that cause their low awareness of the importance of cybersecurity, and formulate strategic recommendations to improve their cyber protection based on the existing problem formulation. Using the Systematic Literature Review (SLR) method, this study synthesizes findings from the latest, accredited and credible sources. The results of this study using the SLR approach indicate that Gen Z's impulsive behavior, tendency to overshare personal information, and lack of digital literacy are the main factors that cause vulnerability to cyber attacks. Many Gen Z users are not fully aware of the risks they face and often lack knowledge about preventive measures and reporting procedures. To address this issue, the study recommends integrating cybersecurity education into formal and informal learning, promoting critical thinking, encouraging practical application of cybersecurity knowledge, and encouraging peer-to-peer awareness campaigns. Consistent implementation of these strategies is expected to increase Gen Z’s awareness and resilience to the ever-evolving cyberthreats.
