Abstract

This study investigates the influence of real-world exposure and theoretical awareness on the effectiveness of network security policies among university students. Using a quantitative approach, data were collected from 104 students through an online survey and analyzed using SmartPLS. The results reveal that real-world exposure has a significant positive effect on the perceived effectiveness of network security policies. In contrast, theoretical awareness alone does not show a significant impact. These findings highlight the importance of experiential learning and direct engagement in shaping cybersecurity behavior. The study contributes to the design of more practical, experience-based cybersecurity education strategies in higher education environments.
